The collection consists chiefly of letters from Charles Eliot Norton to William James Stillman, letters to Charles Eliot Norton, Jr., as a child, and clippings, including obituaries, regarding Norton. Other correspondents include Euphemia Graham, William Prentiss, Joseph W. Gray, Richard Norton, Henry Meyer, Ferdinand Seeger, Arthur C. Moore, George Von Lengnke Meyer, Gaby Fox, Michael Friedsam, W. C. Lawson and James Loeb. The collection also contains a diary of John Palmer, 1797-1811, and a bond for duties on cargo of the ship "James and Margaret," 1824.
